JUNE 20TH, 2008HIT THE ROOF!Drinking champagne at altitude is our favourite summer sport and there is no better place in Vancouver to do so en-plein-aire than Joe Fortes new roof deck, open this week. We counted almost 30 massive planters filled with lavender and flowers, plus a living wall of ivy and box hedge and a sleek new grey tile floor. The updated design is perfect for groups and the soaring views of the VAG, Shangri-La and Fairmont Hotel Vancouver are big-city spectacular. But they didn't throw out the baby with the bathwater: the circular oyster bar and fireplace table are still there (only better) and the crowd is just as glam as ever. Oh, was that you?
