PLANET PARTY

Kids' birthday parties—you've got to plan one (or two, or three) a year or you'll be riddled with bad-mommy guilt for the next 11 months.

Assuage your guilt in more ways than one at this one-stop eco-birthday shop for kids, www.greenplanetparties.com

Based in Vancouver, they offer pale pink plates made from sugarcane pulp ($6.95 for 25), lovely palm leaf ice cream bowls ($11.49/25) with no colour, wax or dyes. There are also camo bandanas for boys and girly fabric kerchiefs for girls as party hats, bright fabric birthday banners (versus plastic and streamers) and matching table cloths and coin-purse loot bags ($6) decorated with dogs—they've thought of everything, down to the free Oxodegradeable garbage bags.

Now all you have to do is organize the game of Pin the Tail on the (insert endangered species here).
