Good Fortune
Call us picky, but when we go clubbing we look for more than a warm body to get lucky with. Satisfying all our requisites for a riotous time (and then some) is the new Fortune Sound Club. Herewith, eight reasons (because it's the luckiest number) why we love it.
1. Its historic and hip address in the heart of Chinatown.
2. The eye-catching installation in the entryway by Shepard Fairey, the artist behind the iconic Barack Obama “Hope” poster.
3.
That although the beautiful brick and beam interior is made for
hedonism, it has eco-friendly design touches like LED lighting,
recycled table tops and reclaimed red oak flooring.
4. They take good sound seriously as evidenced by their Funktion-One system, the only one of its kind in Canada.
5. The spacious DJ booth that gives wannabe turntablists and the just plain curious a clear view of the action.
6. The two artist-designed rooms, one a karaoke room, the other a listening lounge.
7. The diverse crowd of people it draws, from hipsters to hip-hoppers.
8. Jay-Z has already been in. What are you waiting for?
