Designer Mollie Openshaw of Design Loves Detail created this dreamy Salt Lake City bedroom for a 3-year-old girl with the intention of making the space work right up to her teen years. “By the time it was finished, I kind of wished it was my room, so I think we accomplished the mission of creating a space that was appealing to girls of all ages,” Openshaw says. The stylish bedroom features a mix of new, vintage and upcycled touches, including a wall treatment hand-painted by the designer.

Designer Emily Johnston Larkin transformed a rarely used formal dining room into a bedroom for a Dallas family’s 9-year-old son. The walls of the vibrant space are painted in Grasshopper by Sherwin-Williams — an energetic green that sets the tone for the room. The designer worked in cool blues via the bedding, rug, window shade and accessories to balance the room. “Creating a bedroom that was bold and fun but also something that he could grow into was key,” Johnston Larkin says.
