Pegboard Gets a Stylish Upgrade

Pegboard has been popular for decades, organizing everything from our tools to Julia Child’s shiny copper pots. But while it’s certainly satisfying to see screwdrivers and kitchenware lined up just so, the modular, perforated board-and-peg system is typically prized more for its functionality than its good looks. That’s beginning to change, though, thanks to a new generation of custom and off-the-shelf pegboards finding their way into every room of the house. Below, check out 25 stylish examples popping up on Houzz.
 

Mudroom

1. The pretty custom built-ins in this Minneapolis mudroom include a pegboard wall that allows for a variety of storage configurations.

The system’s light wood contrasts nicely with the traditional-style cabinets, painted in Benjamin Moore’s Newbury Green.

 

2. The movable pegs in this Minnesota mudroom allow the cubbies to be customized to each kid’s height and liking, and the pegs can be repositioned as they grow.

Zoom in and you’ll see that some of the pegs have brightly painted ends, adding little zings of color to the room — and perhaps hiding discoloration caused by frequent touching of the pegs.
